Further Information
Newcastle City Council's Children and Family Service are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our small team of Permanence workers.
The role includes working alongside children’s Social Workers, completing the Child Permanence Reports (CPRs) and compiling Life Story Books and delivering training as required. In addition to this role, you will be expected to carry a caseload of children who have a plan for adoption.
You will be based within the Fostering Service but will be expected to work very closely with colleagues in our Regional Adoption Agency, Adopt North East, to find suitable families for children and to support adoptive placements through to the Adoption Order. This may involve travelling to other areas of the country to meet prospective adopters and to complete statutory visits.
As this is a Senior Practitioner post in a specialist role, you will be expected to mentor and support colleagues, providing training and guidance around adoption and permanence.
You must have experience undertaking assessments, including assessments of Children in Need, Children in Need of Protection and Cared for Children. You should have experience of undertaking direct work with children and their families. We would particularly welcome applications from workers who have relevant experience of adoption and permanence work.
